I am a conditionally licensed mental health counselor based in Portland, Maine. My goal is to create a safe container where you can say whatever comes into your mind, as it comes to your mind—while also being challenged to look at parts of yourself that may be uncomfortable, unwelcome, or unfamiliar. You can expect me to be direct, curious, and warm. I welcome creativity in the room, including art and movement.

I practice using a relational psychoanalytic approach, integrated with Buddhist mindfulness and somatics. This means :

  • The relationship is part of the therapy. We’ll look at how your relationships, past and present, as well as social/cultural, may influence what’s happening in the room.

  • The past connects to the present. We'll explore how past wounds may be showing up in day-to-day struggles.

  • Attention to the unconscious. We'll draw attention to patterns and habits that you may not be fully aware of.

  • Non-linear, intuitive thought processes. We’ll bring attention to the body, emotions, and felt sense in the here-and-now, in order to encourage a fuller sense of presence and flexibility.

  • Exploratory, depth-oriented, and non-pathologizing in spirit.

The goal is to slow down and look at habitual patterns in order to go deeper, loosen the grip of trauma and distress, and create new experiences together.
